Yuletide Letter

everysecondtuesdayHi! I love all of the fandoms and characters I'm requesting, so if something is longer or shorter than its counterparts, it's due to how much I had to say, not how much I love the request.
Also, as ever and always, I would like to emphasize, please don't feel obligated to read this letter in its entirety (or at all!). If you already have an idea of what you want to do from just the AO3 requests, go for it! This is all to (I hope) make it easier on you, and I am a big believer in optional details being optional. There being fic for my characters and fandoms will make me happy. Everything else is icing on delicious, delicious cake. Every single optional prompt/additional thought is very, very optional.
If I flub the letter writing and editing process and mention something in my letter that is not on AO3 and in my sign-ups or if I phrase something poorly, I'd also like to emphasize that that's on me and you're free to pretend you didn't see it (or to ask the mods if you're still concerned). My DNWs are all listed under DNWs in my optional details on AO3. If it's something not listed under DNWs, then that's a preference, but I'm still going to read/look at and comment on your fic and (if history is anything to judge) be really happy with it.

On past gifts: I've received works in the past for several of my requested fandoms, which I loved! I just want more. If you matched me on it, I am sure I will love whatever you make me, whether it's along the lines of the gifts I've already received or something entirely new.

General DNWs:
- Focus on unrequested real life serious illness. (Weird confined to canon stuff like Without a Cure, qi deviations, or chakra exhaustion are fine. Cancer is not.)
- Dehumanizing terms related to medical issues by characters who are intended to be sympathetic overall or in stories that aren't horror stories (e.g. referring to coma patients as vegetables). (If it's depersonalization happening by villainous medical personnel in a Rubyquest or other horror story, in which it's a distancing technique on their part and supposed to add to the horror, this is fine, but preferably not in other contexts.)
- Graphic, descriptive eye trauma. (References without detail are fine.)
- Infidelity, characters thinking they're engaged in infidelity, or major focus on/long scenes in which characters think the other character is being unfaithful. (Faithful polyamorous relationships are fine. If someone starts seeing someone else, I want all characters to be aware of and okay with this. If someone dies and that's the usual in-universe end of a relationship, it's fine for the other person to move on while that character is dead. If a character is alive and the other character knows they're alive and they're in a committed monogamous relationship, even if everyone else thinks they're dead or the situation looks dire, I'd prefer not to get a fic where the character moves on during that time; break-ups afterward due to changing circumstances and being a different person now are fine.)
- Focus on unrequested ships. (Presence of background or minor unrequested ships that do not contradict other DNWs is fine.)
- Focus on unrequited love unless requested. (It can be there: I just don't want it to be the story's focus.)
- Romantic or sexual relationships between adults and minors or references to this. Adults being explicitly sexually attracted to people who are currently underage. Explicit underage sex. (Aging up so everyone is over 18 is fine; between two people roughly the same age is fine, like a 17 and 19 year old; minors having unrequited crushes on adults is fine. References to teenagers being sexually active in teenager-typical ways is fine. For scenarios in which two adults knew each other when one was a minor, I'd prefer not to have direct references to the possibility that anything could've happened then, even if it's to emphasize that the younger adult is an adult now.)
- Anything involving focus on nonfictional religions (e.g. Catholic priest!AUs), organized crime, slavery, sex work, or which would involve student/regular school teacher. (If something in this specific list is canon, it's fine to mention it/keep that canonical element, like SQQ having been a slave, but I'd prefer not to focus on it. Bingqiu is also fine.)
- Prison AUs. (Canonical imprisonment is fine.)
- AUs in which canon universes with fantastical elements (magic, chakra, super powers, the Force) have said fantastical elements removed without anything equivalent to replace it and are turned entirely mundane.
Sex DNWs:
- Unrequested dub- or non-con or rape play (for dubcon likes or prompts, I'd prefer all parties to already be into each other in cases where consent is affected).
- The spelling "cum" (as opposed to "come").
- Contract or 24/7 BDSM or use of the word "master" in a sexual context.
- Bodily elimination or related substances in sex scenes.
- Painplay as a punishment or unintended and/or unwelcome sexual arousal from a punishment or torture. (If someone's getting spanked, I want it to be because they want it. If someone's getting tortured, I don't want it to be sexual.)
- Anal without lubricant or stretching. Anal tearing. (Even if it's canon.)
- Mommy/daddy kink or the use of the words "mommy" or "daddy" in a sexual context.
- Bestiality, furry, or pet or animal play (e.g. pony play).

- Cat death as a result of direct dwarf action/cats as part of the meat/soap/leather industry. (Indirect kitten bombs unleashed on unsuspecting forgotten beasts: fine! Cats dying in glorious battle: also fine! Dwarves taking a direct hand in the catsplosion problem: not okay.)
Things I like about this canon and general canon promotion:
Dwarf Fortress is a (free!) simulation game with a steep learning curve, but a huge pay-off in highly entertaining emergent story-telling and weird dwarven decisions. This can include anything from new mothers in the military taking their babies into battle to use as shields to tantrum-throwing dwarves (upset that their babies are now full of arrows) destroying the whole fortress and killing everyone in it by hitting the lever to your "magma solves everything" doomsday device.
It's also coming to Steam!

Losing is fun!
I will never not love this game. When I first started playing it, it was a very different game than it is now, but it has only gotten better. I have embraced the mantra that losing is fun, discovered all the hidden fun stuff, and even managed attempts at mega projects and tried my hand at silly dwarf tricks. (Few survived the first several attempts at a magma-fall through the main dining room, but those few left were delighted at how neat it looked! ... For however long they lived after the ensuing grief stricken tantrum spiral. Apparently a magma fountain can only do so much.)
Other notes:
I want to emphasize that I like gen, but I'd also be okay with ships between any sentient humanoid characters for DF, including original characters, including unrequited ships. I didn't nominate characters not because I want only worldbuilding (though I would love worldbuilding!), but because I wanted to give as much freedom as possible with this request outside my DNWs. Give me anything DF, please.

RED (Victoria Winslow, Han Cho Bai):

Things I like about this canon and general canon promotion:
RED is a movie about retired spies having adventures, and RED 2 brings burned spy turned assassin Han Cho Bai into the mix. Victoria is "retired" from MI-6, but still keeps a hand in. She is terrifyingly good and warm and worldly and eminently practical. Han Cho Bai is ruthlessly efficient, holds a grudge, and enjoying the perks of being freelance (even if it's not what he'd have chosen for himself), but still wants to do the right thing at the end of the day. I love these characters separately, but together they are a tremendous amount of fun. Both are very attractive people who are extremely good at what they do.
RED 2 is an action-adventure romp with hints of humor and characters who care about each other and about saving the world. Han Cho Bai is not as attached to the main cast as Victoria is (and also holds some understandable grudges), but I could see him slotting right in. Also, his grudges are great, and he deserves a new plane.
Other notes:
I want to emphasize that I like gen, but I also like Victoria/Han Cho Bai. As implied by my DNWs, I'm open to both canon and non-canon ships in the background. I love all the RED characters, so I'm fine with whoever else you want to bring in.

Things I like about this canon and general canon promotion:
Scum Villain's Self-Saving System is a fun, funny, oddly touching story about a guy who dies and transmigrates into his favorite stallion novel (which is also his most hated stallion novel). He gets the chance to see his favorite protagonist up close! Too close! Because he's transmigrated into the villain.
I love the System and its role as an antagonist and plot device in one, all of the characters (though my favorites are Shen Yuan, Shang Qinghua, and Mobei-jun), and the utterly ridiculous things that can happen, both as a result of the shoddy worldbuilding the original world's author did and the way he went off his original outline and also because the characters are absolute disasters. The number of times Shen Yuan decides to drink demon blood alone ...
I also love how much Shen Yuan and Shang Qinghua care about this world and the people in it. Shang Qinghua's joy at the ending and the fact that things work out for everyone is really heartwarming (plotholes filled in! protagonist in a happy relationship!). The way Shen Yuan/Shen Qingqiu grows attached to everyone and remains attached to Luo Binghe the whole way through is great. The reveal of Mobei-jun's feelings and the way he looked after SQH the whole time in the Airplane Bro extras was so nice, even if cultural differences resulted in some unfortunate misunderstandings (why did you make demons like this, Airplane Bro?). You could pretty much see him getting attached, and it validated all of my main novel thoughts so nicely. (Yes, MBJ throws SQH into that cave, but then he follows that up with overkill protection and retribution. Poor ZZL. Shouldn't have thrown those snakes.) I just ... I love these characters so much.
I really feel like everyone is trying their best, and I want them to eventually succeed.
Other notes:
I want to emphasize that I like gen, but I also like Airplane Bro!SQH/MBJ, Airplane Bro/Shen Yuan (transmigrated and pre-transmigrated both), and Bingmei/Shen Yuan!SQQ. I'm also okay with unrequited in the form of Airplane Bro -> Shen Yuan and Bingge -> Shen Yuan. As implied by my DNWs, I'm open to both canon and non-canon ships in the background.
For the purposes of my unrequested non-con/dub-con DNW, in this fandom, I'm opting in to sex pollen, arranged marriage/other social pressures make them do it, and mating cycles/in heat (a/b/o, demon biology, whatever).

(Aging up so everyone is over 18 is fine; between two people roughly the same age is fine, like a 17 and 19 year old; minors having unrequited crushes on adults is fine. References to teenagers being sexually active in teenager-typical ways is fine. For scenarios in which two adults knew each other when one was a minor, I'd prefer not to have direct references to the possibility that anything could've happened then, even if it's to emphasize that the younger adult is an adult now.)
- Anything involving focus on nonfictional religions (e.g. Catholic priest!AUs), organized crime, slavery, sex work, or which would involve student/regular school teacher. Things I like about this canon and general canon promotion:
Dwarf Fortress is a (free!) simulation game with a steep learning curve, but a huge pay-off in highly entertaining emergent story-telling and weird dwarven decisions. This can include anything from new mothers in the military taking their babies into battle to use as shields to tantrum-throwing dwarves (upset that their babies are now full of arrows) destroying the whole fortress and killing everyone in it by hitting the lever to your "magma solves everything" doomsday device.
It's also coming to Steam!

Losing is fun!
I will never not love this game. When I first started playing it, it was a very different game than it is now, but it has only gotten better. I have embraced the mantra that losing is fun, discovered all the hidden fun stuff, and even managed attempts at mega projects and tried my hand at silly dwarf tricks. (Few survived the first several attempts at a magma-fall through the main dining room, but those few left were delighted at how neat it looked! ... For however long they lived after the ensuing grief stricken tantrum spiral. Apparently a magma fountain can only do so much.)
Other notes:
I want to emphasize that I like gen, but I'd also be okay with ships between any sentient humanoid characters for DF, including original characters, including unrequited ships. I didn't nominate characters not because I want only worldbuilding (though I would love worldbuilding!), but because I wanted to give as much freedom as possible with this request outside my DNWs. Give me anything DF, please.

Things I like about this canon and general canon promotion:
RED is a movie about retired spies having adventures, and RED 2 brings burned spy turned assassin Han Cho Bai into the mix. Victoria is "retired" from MI-6, but still keeps a hand in. She is terrifyingly good and warm and worldly and eminently practical. Han Cho Bai is ruthlessly efficient, holds a grudge, and enjoying the perks of being freelance (even if it's not what he'd have chosen for himself), but still wants to do the right thing at the end of the day. I love these characters separately, but together they are a tremendous amount of fun. Both are very attractive people who are extremely good at what they do.
RED 2 is an action-adventure romp with hints of humor and characters who care about each other and about saving the world. Han Cho Bai is not as attached to the main cast as Victoria is (and also holds some understandable grudges), but I could see him slotting right in. Also, his grudges are great, and he deserves a new plane.

Things I like about this canon and general canon promotion:
Scum Villain's Self-Saving System is a fun, funny, oddly touching story about a guy who dies and transmigrates into his favorite stallion novel (which is also his most hated stallion novel). He gets the chance to see his favorite protagonist up close! Too close! Because he's transmigrated into the villain.
I love the System and its role as an antagonist and plot device in one, all of the characters (though my favorites are Shen Yuan, Shang Qinghua, and Mobei-jun), and the utterly ridiculous things that can happen, both as a result of the shoddy worldbuilding the original world's author did and the way he went off his original outline and also because the characters are absolute disasters. The number of times Shen Yuan decides to drink demon blood alone ...
I also love how much Shen Yuan and Shang Qinghua care about this world and the people in it. Shang Qinghua's joy at the ending and the fact that things work out for everyone is really heartwarming (plotholes filled in! protagonist in a happy relationship!). The way Shen Yuan/Shen Qingqiu grows attached to everyone and remains attached to Luo Binghe the whole way through is great. The reveal of Mobei-jun's feelings and the way he looked after SQH the whole time in the Airplane Bro extras was so nice, even if cultural differences resulted in some unfortunate misunderstandings (why did you make demons like this, Airplane Bro?). You could pretty much see him getting attached, and it validated all of my main novel thoughts so nicely. (Yes, MBJ throws SQH into that cave, but then he follows that up with overkill protection and retribution. Poor ZZL. Shouldn't have thrown those snakes.) I just ... I love these characters so much.
I really feel like everyone is trying their best, and I want them to eventually succeed.
