A thing of nightmares, what comes of watching the first five minutes of Frankenstein. I blame [personal profile] lizfu.

Life update stuff: [personal profile] the_wanlorn and I are no longer together. She broke it off, but I'm pretty okay with it all, so no sympathies necessary on either side, I think.

Mostly, my life has stayed pretty boring, though I am going to a carnival wedding of a close family friend later today. Considering the bride was my sister's best friend at the same time her sister was my best friend and our mothers have remained close friends for ages, it is practically a family event. While I'm not looking forward to the crowds, it'll be nice to see that whole family again.

The other thing of interest was watching Frankenstein's theater broadcast with [personal profile] lizfu, as mentioned above. The stagecraft and acting were pretty great, though there were two unexpected potential triggers for s.a. Feel free to p.m. me if you need info on that.

I'm still working on that Avengers Valdemar fusion fic. It is mostly done, but I am having difficulty sticking the landing. Why are endings so hard to write?

Finally, a link for [personal profile] lizfu the rest of you may enjoy, too: Harry the Hufflepuff. It's an ffn link, and yes, there is a sequel accessible via the author's profile.

The entire right side of my face is a ball of pain, liquid keeps leaking from that tear duct, and I have literally gone through an entire box of kleenex today. These are not tiny boxes.

Currently I can't take NSAIDs for medical reasons. I've used ice right over my sinuses, and it's too hot for heat (though I may try it anyway). I am leery of tea for the same reason. More allergy medications are also right out for the moment, though let me tell you, I am counting down the hours and hoping this is not a sinus infection.

Does anyone have any tips, tricks, or suggestions not listed above? And, though it is less pressing than the ball of pain in my face, any tips for ear pain? You would think this would be something I would know from chronic ear infections as a child, but alas, crying into my mum's lap until I was dragged to the doctor and trying not to let anyone close to my ears is not something I can get away with as an adult.

Failing suggestions, anyone have fic recs? I am currently nostalgic for Harry Potter (you would not believe how much (mostly terrible) femslash and sorting AUs and bad fic I have been reading) and rummaging around in DCU (with a focus on The Avengers, Thor, and X-Men). Alternately, good creepy pasta or creepy web originals. If it deserves a place on the High Octane Nightmare Fuel page, I will probably read it.

And so that I am not just taking, have some recs:

That Insidious Beast: I'm only partway through, but I am delighted by documentation fic combined with actual prose. The TV schedule and the kid snarking on info dots are both great. A mid-apocalypse tale.

The SCP Foundation has tons of awesome stuff, though it also has tons of terrible stuff and tons of triggery stuff. At some point I may go through and find my favorites and link them, if only for my own ease of reference. Tales of a collection of things and people (and things that were people).

And I am sure all of you have already read The Dionaea House.

. . . It is 2:30 a.m., how am I even awake? More to the point, I am re-reading The Dionaea House. Even if my pain goes away, how will I ever sleep again?

Today's genius moment: Spilling Diet Coke on myself and my clean sheets (which are thick enough, fortunately, that they prevented much from soaking into the bed in the short time before I yanked them off). I am extremely thankful to have a laundry machine here, keeping Laundry Day Strikes Back from being terribly inconvenient. I suppose this is what I get for allowing a relapse with my Diet Coke addiction.

Yay for that amazing Gwen vid, because it really is like a pocketful of sunshine. Gwen, I want you to be my harbor. *_*

I have been neglecting the baby animals. You know who hasn't? This awesome hen. She didn't hatch those puppies, but by God, she will peck off anyone's face who threatens them.

Remix Redux is doing test sign-ups. If you feel so inclined, go help try and break the form! Test signing up is not real signing up and does not obligate you to participate.

It seems that once sign-ups are open, they'll be open until the 23rd. Yay for Naruto being an eligible fandom again, because it means I can definitely play this year. All the same, I'm going to try to finish one at least 100 word HP fic and either three 500 word or four 100 word SPN fic to bring my qualifying fandoms up. (Look, I need at least one of the two by some point, because there is no guarantee Naruto won't drop off the qualifying fandoms list again next year.)

What this brings me to is: Does anyone have any tiny HP prompts? I'm only taking one. My loves in that direction tend toward Neville, Luna, and Hermione, along with shameful Draco and Snape love. I'm sure you all know my feelings about Dumbledore/Grindelwald, too, but I've already written my stories for them.

Also: Does anyone have any short SPN prompts? My loves are mainly seasons four and five, Castiel, Castiel/Dean, Dean/Pie, Dean/Impala, Ruby, Sam being Castiel's BFF, Ruby being Castiel's unexpected and somewhat awkward and totally amazing BFF, and lots of awesome ladies I refuse to believe are dead.

No guarantees on any of these, but considering my current wip list, this is the only time I'll be taking prompts until my next "spot the Tuesday" contest during Remix Redux posting. (Excepting, of course, the ones still open from the people who won my last "spot the Tuesday" contest.)

Tanuki! As I told [personal profile] firedreamer when she sent me this to cheer me up, tanuki are like if bears and raccoons had little evil babies to mesmerize you with their adorable stares while they stole your everything and then ate your toes. And you are all, "Noooo, those are my toes, you can't--so cuuuuuuuute--no wait, my toes! But, but, ADORABLE." If I were an evil supervillain, I would not populate the mountains surrounding my secret lair with wolves, but with tanuki.

[livejournal.com profile] con_or_bust is currently on-going.

[personal profile] deepad has up an ARC of Split, an excellent book I recommended/reviewed in October.

Apparently it's a meme sort of month in addition to all the SPN. I've seen these two memes (often together) floating around my lists, and they sound like fun:
Ask me a question about one of my stories. It can be absolutely anything in any fic and I will tell you the honest-to-god answer. Don't hold back. Anything. Whatever you ask, I will try my best to answer.

Pick one of my stories, and I will tell you the first line of its sequel. Even if I was never actually planning to write a sequel. Even if it already has a sequel -- I'll give you the first line of another version of its sequel!

The best place to find most of my collected fic is on my fic Delicious.

I forgot to do two things for Three Ships, which was lots of fun, even if my life kind of ate my brain at the time. First let me point you all to the absolutely amazing Criminal Minds Morgan/Garcia/Reid fic [personal profile] bessemerprocess wrote me:

Stepping Stones: It's a slow process, but they keep moving forward.

Second, I wrote a Harry/Hermione/Ron fic for Keine:

Adventures in Adulthood: Happily ever after, trio-style.

It's come to my attention that I am most productive fic-wise if I'm writing for fests or others, and that I work better on my original stuff when I have several fic going I'm excited about. This means I'm weighing trying Bangs again in addition to my current projects, most of which should be done by the end of the month (two Askewniverse fic, two Bones fic, assorted fic for FFFA, and Death Bingo fic in various states). Most of November will be eaten by [livejournal.com profile] yuletide and [community profile] 3_ships, but I will need things to do after that.

[livejournal.com profile] apocabigbang looks fun. I'm trying to keep things manageable, but 10k in four months doesn't sound that bad, especially considering my [livejournal.com profile] third_monday was that long and written in a week. I mean, apoca-fic. [livejournal.com profile] svmadelyn, if I worked on a Chuck fic for this, would you occasionally poke me about it?

I have until November 3rd to decide. If I don't write fic, I think I'll volunteer as an artist and make a vid. Because really, I can't say this enough times: apoca-fic.

Also intriguing are [livejournal.com profile] hermionebigbang (the world is missing a very long Hermione/Luna "Hermione takes over the wizarding world" or "Hermione was Sorted Hufflepuff" AU) and [livejournal.com profile] bau_bigbang (this will depend on my thoughts once I've watched the rest of Criminal Minds with [personal profile] bessemerprocess).

In my list of fen-related points of curiosity, how many vids out there are there for "Clint Eastwood" by Gorillaz? Are there any for Chuck? These are the things I wonder when I listen to my iTunes these days. Well, this, and how sick of Passion Pit people are going to be once I start that project.

Harry Potter tonight! Also talk with Liz about something incredibly exciting we're working on! Also also I made delicious chocolate brownies with walnuts in and caramel on for sneaking into the theater!

Let me tell, it's going to be excellent.

Oh, bronchitis and sinus infection, my old friends. Know that I love Amoxicillin more than you.

Probably shouldn't have waited ten days to see the doctor.

I woke up to a nice surprise, though! Last night, I quickly scribbled some down some Chuck fic that I didn't want to forget and thought I had maybe two pages or so of notes in huge handwriting. And okay, it was still huge handwriting, but more like five pages. We'll see what that becomes when typed once I finally am done with the two fic I either owe immediately or am actually way, way, way past due on. ([personal profile] mona, you have all my apologies. You are probably tired of hearing them.)

I think I'm going to maybe drop out of one of the two Bangs I am a part of (and I am waaay behind on my wordcount for the Merlin one), because Remix Redux is coming up, and that is my favorite exchange ever to write for. I received almost no feedback, but it was so much fun.

Speaking of! All you Pundits and Politics RPF people: They're considering letting in RPFandoms as qualifying fandoms this year. Go write in your vote if you're interested. There are a lot of you I would love to see participating. I'll only be signing up for pundits RPF (because one, I am not unlocking my politics RPF, though I will be the rest and two, I'm not writing for politifandom anymore, as most of you have probably been able to tell), but I would love to see more added.

According to [livejournal.com profile] musesfool:
Voting will be open until the weekend - at least Saturday evening, possibly even Sunday night (I have a first communion party to go to on Sunday afternoon) - so please do pimp the poll out.

So yes, please do!

Some recs:

Odd Jobs series by [personal profile] brownbetty and [livejournal.com profile] emeraldwoman
There is a reason The Underwire Job and its sequels are my favorite Leverage fic.

Your Fixed Point by [livejournal.com profile] quigonejinn
Tony Stark is a woman, but still so very Tony. This one hurts, but is so very worth it. Tony/everyone.

(As a warning, because I care about these things, and maybe some of you do, too: There are some consent issues with younger-Tony, what with younger-Tony being young.)

The Things We Did and Didn't Do by [livejournal.com profile] siriaeve
The crossover I never knew I wanted. SGA/Iron Man, past Tony/Rodney, current Rodney/Tony's suit. *g*

For the Public Good by [livejournal.com profile] blamebrampton
A fun read about trying to keep magic secret. Harry/Draco.

Tonight I will finish my [livejournal.com profile] lgbtfest by midnight. I will. *narrows eyes at self*
