[sticky entry] Sticky: Introduction Post

everysecondtuesday: glasses and milk tea in the morning (Default)
Today I'm finally remembering to finish and post an introduction post. Most important thing first:

I am constantly reminded of how far I have yet to come as an ally and as a person, but I just want to put this out there: If ever I do or say anything that makes you feel hurt, unwelcome, or uncomfortable, I promise that I will do my best to listen as calmly and patiently as possible, and if necessary will remove myself from the keyboard for time to calm down so my response will not be reactive or defensive. For any times that I have said anything that has hurt you in the past, I apologize. I'm always trying to do better, and I know that sometimes that's not enough.

I love all of the fandoms and characters I'm requesting, so if one section seems longer or shorter than another, it's due to how much I had to say, not how much I love the request. They're ordered in reverse alphabetical order, and there's a fair amount of copy-pasting from previous letters. They are all fandoms of my heart, and I'm excited at the possibility of receiving any of them.

Also, this letter is super long, so please don't feel obligated to read it all. If you already have an idea of what you want to do from just the AO3 requests, go for it! This is all to (I hope) make it easier on you, and I am a big believer in optional details being optional. There being fic for my fandoms will make me happy. Everything else is icing for delicious, delicious cake.

This year I'm requesting three video game fandoms, and one quest game: Don't Starve, (Wickerbottom, Willow), Dwarf Fortress (Any), and Long Live the Queen (Arisse, Briony, Charlotte, Elodie), as well as Rubyquest (Red, Ruby). If you're really not feeling the request you matched on, here's hoping you know one of the others! I'm including links for where you can find and/or acquire them all.

Also, these are almost all fandoms I've either requested in other ongoing exchanges (DF & DS) or have received fic for in Yuletides past (DF & LLtQ). Please don't feel like you have to compete with anyone past or present! I love these fandoms a lot, and there is not a lot out there for them, so while I loved everything I've received so far, I'm sure whatever you write me will be a delight to me, too!

Fair warning: this letter will contain spoilers, so if you haven't played or read something and want to go into it with fresh eyes, you'll want to skip that section.

If you've made it this far, I'd like to thank you for participating in Yuletide. This is my favorite yearly challenge, and I am ridiculously excited for and about it.

My number one hope for my gift fic is that my writer has a good time with it, so let me emphasize again that I'm just happy that there will be more fic for one of these fandoms. This monster of a letter was mostly an excuse to enthuse about tiny fandoms, and I truly hope it doesn't put you off or make you worry about whether you can make any of the prompts work. Whatever you end up writing, I'm hoping it's something you enjoy about the fandom and have fun writing.

Have a happy Yuletide! ♥

If you check out my last Yuletide letter, you may notice that I've copied a lot over, including some of the structure.

General stuff first!

I love all of the fandoms and characters I'm requesting, so if one section seems longer or shorter than another, it's due to how much I had to say, not how much I love the request. (And also maybe an indicator of where I was when I started running out of energy and ideas.) They are all fandoms of my heart, and I'm excited at the possibility of receiving any of them.

Also, this letter is super long, so please don't feel obligated to read it all. If you already have an idea of what you want to do from just the AO3 requests, go for it! This is all to (I hope) make it easier on you, and I am a big believer in optional details being optional. There being fic or art for my fandoms will make me happy. Everything else is icing on delicious, delicious cake.

This year I'm requesting art or fic in four video game fandoms: Don't Starve (Any), Dwarf Fortress (Any), Fallout (Gary, The Puppet Man), and Long Live the Queen (Arisse, Charlotte, Elodie). Each section will include prompts by character, then some general prompts, including both trick and treat ideas. I am terrible about art ideas, so if none of this is helpful for that, I am so sorry. Whatever you make me, I am sure it will be great and I will love it to bits.

Fair warning: this letter will contain spoilers, so if you haven't played a game and want to go into it with fresh eyes, you'll want to skip that section.

A note: I've received fic in the past for both Dwarf Fortress and Long Live the Queen, which I loved! I just want more. Once they are no longer Yuletide eligible, maybe I will stop requesting them wherever possible! But for now, if you matched me on one of the two, I am sure I will love whatever you make me, whether it's along the lines of the gifts I've already gotten or something new entirely.

General Likes:

I'm happy with gen or romance. If you go the romance route, I'm good with f/f, f/m, m/m, poly, and ace.

I like both long and short fic, so go where the story leads you! That said, I am honestly not expecting a story longer than the minimum, so please, please don't let this letter intimidate you: remember, a lot of it was cribbed from my Yuletide letter. (And a lot that wasn't is going to be used in my next one.)

A list of tropes and themes I adore include AUs (modern, regency, historic, magic, college, cyberpunk, steampunk, canon divergence, everyone lives, end of the world, all the AUs), arranged marriage & marriage of convenience, soulbonds & soulmates, pining, first times, apocalypse, worldbuilding, friends to lovers, IN SPACE, family, found family, friendship, political machinations, intrigue, time travel, mysteries, time loops, didn't know they're dating, magic, ghosts, shenanigans, drunken shenanigans, woke up married, prank wars, wooing, extended courtships, whirlwind romance, political negotiations, alliances of convenience, training, slice of life, character study, plot, pwp, developing relationships/friendships, character has the chance to re-do/relive events, aliens, robots, mermaids, monsters, dragons, reincarnation, pregnancy/adoption/kid fic, matchmaking, mysteries, isolation, trapped together, comedy of errors, competence, communication, codas, future fic, fusions - this list could go on forever, so I'll finally stop myself here.

Feel free to go as dark or fluffy or creepy or cracked out as your heart desires. I'm excited for the possibility of either a trick or a treat.

Triggers:

Literally the only things that could keep me from reading a gift fic are non-con and rapeplay.

Some General DNWs:

Because I listed AUs above, I feel like I should mention there are AUs I'm just not into anymore (though I have enjoyed some fic with them in the past) - slavery, serial killer, mafia, prison, and sex worker AUs.

I'm not really into infidelity (poly or marriage only as an arrangement is fine! I just prefer everyone involved to know and be okay with what's going on), underage (sixteen or up is fine), incest (my exceptions are not in any of these fandoms), or eye trauma.

Usually in exchanges I ask for even unhappy endings to come with a grain of hope, with exceptions listed for each fandom, but not this year! (Or, at least, not this fest!) You may kill the characters (all the characters) as much as you please. Please do tick the little warning box for permanent major character death, though, so I'll be prepared for it going in?

If you've made it this far, I'd like to thank you for participating in Trick or Treat. This is my first year participating, and I am excited for and about it.

My number one hope for my gift fic or art is that you have a good time with it, so let me emphasize again that I'm just happy that there will be another fanwork for one of these fandoms. This monster of a letter was mostly an excuse to enthuse about these fandoms, and I truly hope it doesn't put you off or make you worry about whether you can make any of the prompts work. Whatever you end up writing or drawing, I'm hoping it's something you enjoy about the fandom and have fun creating.

Have a happy Trick or Treat! ♥

I love all of the fandoms and characters I'm requesting, so if one section seems longer or shorter than another, it's due to how much I had to say, not how much I love the request (see: having requested "Any" for LLtQ and writing about each character possibly matched on).

This year I'm asking for four video game fandoms: Hatoful Kareshi/Hatoful Boyfriend (Tosaka Hiyoko|Hunter-Gatherer Girl, Iwamine Shuu), Long Live the Queen (any), Magical Diary (Ellen Middleton, Hieronymous Grabiner, Main Character), and Monster Loves You! (Spine Doctor). If you're really not feeling the request you matched on, here's hoping you know one of the others! They're all fairly short games and all available on Steam. They're also (in my fairly biased opinion) all lots of fun!

Fair warning: this letter will contain spoilers, so if you haven't played a game and want to go into it with fresh eyes, you'll want to skip that section.

I've slowly continued my experiments with trying all of the scents, though I've done better with the documentation as I go than actually posting the results. Here are three more, with three more to be posted at some point in the future, plus an eventual post on blending the RPG series. (A preview to that latter post: they are much better blended as intended than stand alone.)

Nuclear Winter 2013 )

Picture Books in Winter )

Tokyo Stomp )

Overall, it was fun trying this batch, but I don't believe I'll be wearing them again any time soon.

It being my birthday soon, and Dreamwidth treacherously discussing the joys of Black Phoenix Alchemy Lab, I decided that this was it, this was the year. Allergies to most commercial perfumes or no, I was going to buy all the smells and wear them. Congratulations, you may share in my journey.

Experience with scents previous to this: almost none, excepting coughing, headaches, sneezing, and awful burning if applied to skin. Previous to today, I was proud owner of two tiny bottles I bought at my local yearly 1812 battle reenactment fair, both of which contained sandalwood, alcohol, and Mystery Substances I was fortunately not allergic to.

Having bought approximately a bajillion scents, this is going to be a series.

Experiment one: Dragon's Eye )

Experiment two: Blood Pearl )

Experiment three: Endymion )

Later this afternoon, or perhaps tomorrow, I expect to have more documentation of these new (to me) and exciting experiments.

Sometime after my decision to write all the fic, I re-injured my wrist. I refuse to let this stop me. Surely any time now I will be accustomed once more to typing with a wrist brace. Let's not even discuss this ongoing bronchitis or whatever. Cough meds just make writing better, right?

A short list of the Hobbit fic I'm working on:
- Smaug the Magnificent invades Erebor. Unfortunately for Smaug, he chose this quest as an infant dragon. The dwarves are not impressed with their new dragon infestation.
- The accidental soul bond drunk wedding Bree-as-Vegas time loop modern AU, with working title "All the Tropes. All of them."
- A 4k-ish everybody lives AU in which I attempt to purge many of the still left-over feelings from reading the Hobbit at age ten. You are all just very lucky that Tolkien fandom of the time intimidated me, because otherwise somewhere in the internet's murky past there would be 20k of awful and meandering song fic. I am just saying, Sinnead O'Connor was big then.
- Mash-up with Dwarf Fortress (including why you don't eat the meat at an elven table after an orc hunt).
- Instead of going on to the halls of his fathers or whatever, Bilbo is given another option to fill another universe's gap. In which Bilbo is a retired Maiar, no, really, he swears he's done this time, Gandalf comes to regret taking him on the occasional adventure, and this whole quest business is Gandalf's version of revenge.
- The Lovecraftian cannibalism humor fic. I blame the kink meme, which I have shamelessly scoured for ideas. [personal profile] lizfu can confirm this: someone out there wants me to write this fic.
- That other kink meme prompt I discussed with [personal profile] lizfu where the presence of hobbits is the equivalent of a hundred adorable kittens. In which Gandalf has a tendency to throw Bilbo at whichever dwarf is pissing him off (read: Thorin) and by the time they reach Erebor, Thorin doesn't so much have an Arkenstone as a Bilbo problem. There may also be well-meaning Shire kidnappings and Bilbo developing an elves complex.
- At least two Bilbo-the-dragon fic. What, don't look at me like that. It is all perfectly reasonable.

You can be reasonably certain that if the fic I write in this fandom is not Thorin/Bilbo, it is gen. And you can be reasonably certain that I am not writing much gen.

Porn Battle is on a new round. It's closed for prompts, but will open for posting fic on the 2nd.

If you like to get an early start on things, you might want to scan the prompts post.

If you want to be helpful and get a sneak peek of fic before it's posted, you might check out the beta offer post.

In related matters, I may be writing Guy/Kakashi again. I wish I'd noted who requested it, because they are my new favorite.

It's 3 a.m., but I'm sick and can't sleep, so here, have a reveals post! I wrote nine fic in eight fandoms, including three pinch hits. I had a lot of fun writing them and am super excited about actually finishing and posting fic again. It has been a while.

All These Wakeful Hours

Fandom: Ruby Quest
Summary: Ruby could've done a lot worse for a player than /tg/. In which there are malevolent fish, mysterious admirers, and far too many deaths waiting around every. corner.
Notes: Red/Ruby and Tom/Ruby when they show up, but mostly gen. 12205 words. Teen and up.

I had entirely too much fun with this one. Like, cackling gleefully to myself while plotting terrible things full-out joy. Full notes at the fic. (Yes, niq, this is that fic.) Also, if you're not already familiar with Ruby Quest, take this as a rec to go read it.

We Are Not Close Enough Friends For These To Be Benefits

Fandom: Archie Comics
Summary: Jughead wants a nap. Reggie has other plans.
Notes: Reggie/Jughead. 1620 words. Teen and up. Maybe I will be breaking my no sequels rule for this one. Full notes at the fic.

The Continuing Adventures of Dr. Bright: Doctor, Scientist, Cosplayer

Fandom: SCP Foundation
Summary: Reasons Dr. Bright needs a keeper. (And reasons having a keeper won't help.) In which Bright goes through assistants like others go through tissue, there is desperate spending of extra D-Class resources in response to upcoming budget reviews, and Bright has a doctorate but is still not that Doctor.
Notes: Dr. Bright gen. 1988 words. Teen and up. Dr. Bright may be a terrible person, but you have to admit he knows how to have a good time. Full notes at the fic (and, er, in the comments, because I am terrible at remembering to update with end notes).

Growth Cycle

Fandom: The Sims
Summary: Hydrangea doesn't like kids, but her daughter's growing on her.
Notes: OFC/OFC, but really mostly mother-daughter family gen. 2494 words. Teen and up. Entirely too many things in this came straight from my own games, highlighting weird Sims behavior and my own awful skills at managing a household. Full notes at the fic.

Echo Reply

Fandom: Almost Human
Summary: Dorian claims he hasn't gone rogue, but what else could all these flowers mean? In which John is concerned, Dorian is exasperated, and there will be no more talk of feelings.
Notes: Dorian/John. 1295 words. Teen and up. When added to the Archie fic (or just taken on its own), further proof of my love for the "doesn't know they're dating/on a date" trope. Full notes at the fic.

These Bonds Pulled Tight

Fandom: Pet Shop of Horrors
Summary: Porn. Omigosh, porn.
Notes: D/Leon. 1146 words. Explicit. Dub-con. Trying to write fuck-or-die is apparently impossible for me, so this is likely the closest I will achieve. I meant to change the summary placeholder and enact all the changes my beta suggested, but I have yet to achieve either of these. I figure y'all are stuck with that summary, but maybe in the next week or two I will stop having weird anxiety feelings attached to this and make the other changes. We'll see. I'm determined it will happen eventually. (Sorry, treat recipient! :( My other option was not posting it, but I opted on the side of more gifts rather than less.)

A Gentlelady and Her Books

Fandom: Beauty and the Beast (Disney)
Summary: Adam likes to read, but there are only so many books a person can read before cabin fever sets in. A role reversal B&B AU.
Notes: Prince Adam/Belle. 757 words. General Audiences. I want to re-watch this movie now.

Chi's First Christmas

Fandom: Chi's Sweet Home
Summary: In which Chi discovers Christmas cake and presents.
Notes: Gen. 546 words. General audiences. My love for this manga is boundless. My only regret is that I did not have the time to write everything I wanted and make fan art to include in this. (And I still did not have time to write everything I wanted!)

We Last to Raise Our Hands

Fandom: Ruby Quest
Summary: Bella didn't volunteer.
Notes: Gen. 100 words. Teen and up. The whole YuMaDrIn thing was a nice excuse to write a short Bella piece.

All in all, I had a lot of fun writing this Yuletide, though I did not manage everything I hoped to. Considering that much of it was done while on vacation (though Ruby Quest snagged me much sooner), I will have to settle for NYRC during my free time this year for the rest of it.

And now it's 4 a.m., so time once more to try for sleep.
everysecondtuesday: glasses and milk tea in the morning (Default)
I was pretty sure that I was not going to participate in Yuletide at all this year, what with my internet presence being negligible at best, not to mention my never having finished any of the NYRC fic I started (or published any fic this year whatsoever). Now, though, it's nearing time for my yearly retreat to FL with my mother, and I decided if I finished up all of the important things beforehand, I'd allow myself to write treats.

There are a couple more things to tie up, but I've gone through the DYW spreadsheet and several of the challenges, and eek, I am super excited about writing fic again. If I have the time, I am definitely writing for three people, maybe more.

Who all of y'all are doing Yuletide this year or participating in some other fashion? I would love to read your DYW letters if you have any. The cockles of my heart are currently full of fannish and holiday enthusiasm.
everysecondtuesday: glasses and milk tea in the morning (Default)
This year has been kind of ridiculous for managing anything fannish whatsoever past that tiny bit of Homestuck fan art. And no, tumblr did not eat me - I haven't been updating there, either. /o\

--

Some vague life update stuff:

-I took a class and maybe now I will have a new career! It is an exciting possibility, and I am looking forward to change.

-My health has continued to be weird, but I promise I will update y'all if I ever get answers past, "Do this new thing, and then come back to give us more blood to test. [rinse, repeat.]" On the plus side, even if we never figure it out, at worst I'll be stuck with discomfort and/or inconvenience only occasionally. Yay?

-My mum is finally recovering from her major surgery! This is pretty neat, as it means she can finally leave the house for short periods without my following after her like an overly concerned mama hen worried her baby chick's going to trip and need to go back to the hospital for more surgery. Also, my mum finally gets her dog back, even if he must now adjust to the weirdness of coming to me for all his needs.

-I finally have my main computer back! It took a great deal of effort not to cling to and cuddle it, crooning softly, "Never leave me," and generally act like a total creeper to a piece of hardware. There is just something about one's main desktop that cannot be replaced.

--

Some fannish stuff:

-I am totally failing at doing a NYR for my original Yuletide assignment and am resigned to just never finishing this story. Do any of y'all have a story prompt you saw (all those months ago) and secretly thought, "I hope Tuesday is assigned *that*"? Or maybe you want to take this opportunity to scrawl through that huge, awesome spreadsheet and convince me to write [insert fandom here]? Seriously, I am no good with spreadsheets and am just making sad, desperate faces at google docs and hoping someone will swoop in to save me.

-I seriously wavered over whether to do Five Days of Tuesday this year (obviously that did not happen) and realized I have tons of near-finished short fic. Unfortunately, a lot of it is on other computers. Is there anyone out there still interested in A-Team fic who'd be willing to handhold me through actually finishing the last few hundred words?

-I promise I'll eventually finish that Avengers Valdemar AU. A year late, maybe, but it will happen.

-Is there good Downton Abbey fic? I'm partway through S2 and am curious. It seems like a hard fandom to write in, but the world is full of wonders and wonderful writers.

-I'm finding that I'm somewhat pining for my time in SPN fandom. I have little interest in catching up in the show right now, and I can't bring myself to work on anything in that wip folder, but most of my personal experiences with it were pretty great and the people well worth missing. ♥

-Homestuck: is anyone caught up with this and willing to answer a couple questions for me? I briefly stopped reading and am still uncertain whether I want to get back to it sooner or much, much later.
everysecondtuesday: glasses and milk tea in the morning (Default)
Yuletide brought me a delightful Dwarf Fortress fic, Earthseer, Diamondsea. Summary: "A new day dawns on the newest outpost of the dwarven fortress of Idbërûl. Of course, it's only a matter of time before misfortune falls upon Reg Dorenallas and his companions..." Because of course this is Dwarf Fortress, and any other outcome just wouldn't be Fun. *grin*

If you're familiar with DF, you should definitely check it out!

And if you're not familiar with Dwarf Fortress, you should give it a shot, then check out my gift fic. I should note the fic itself has spoilers if you've not reached that game aspect, but then again, maybe you're like me and enjoy reading the wiki and forums to read about all the adventures your fortresses fail too soon to reach. (Stupid massive rampaging skeletal goats and tantrum spirals from everyone's horror at accidental baby shields and troglodytes trying to make homes in the living room.) (Seriously, though, it is an awesome game and a great fic.)

--

I am down in FL again, as per my mum and my holiday tradition. It is a nice, laidback time as per usual, even with my allergies going haywire. Apparently I am missing a blizzard, but at least there will be plenty of snow left to return to.

Has anyone been to the new Fantasyland? We are planning on checking it out on either Friday or Saturday depending on the second snowstorm forecasts, but I'm curious if there's anything in particular we should experience or keep an eye out for. My excitement is reaching pretty epic levels over this.

Sure, Disney may be full of shameless capitalism and consumerism, but it is also full of happiness to try to keep you and your money coming back. Also, there is nothing like seeing tiny children make :O faces of delighted amazement and remember seeing the same on your siblings' faces at that age.

--

I hope you are all having a delightful Boxing Day! How goes your week?

If so, want to discuss how amazing Annie/Eyal/Auggie would be and the more recent eps with me? Or Joan/Annie (with Joan having cleared an open relationship with Arthur beforehand)? I'm currently partway through the watch episode and alsdfkjal;sdfjk;asl.

(Also, yeah, I have not been around much. I don't know if it'll be helpful at this point, but I'm hoping to do that edit on my DYW letter in the next couple days.)

Last night I was talking to the fabulous [livejournal.com profile] amireal about VVC and whether I was attending. My anxiety has been pretty terrible for the past many months, so I didn't jump on the original sign-ups. But! Registration appears to still be open.

I'm not 100% decided, but I am thinking that if I can room with others, I will go. If you have a hotel space open, would you like to room with a Tuesday?

If I can't find a roommate, I may make a day trip that weekend to Chicago regardless for cupcakes and various Chicago adventures. If so, would anyone want to catch dinner with me at House o' Meat or elsewhere?

--

In other things, tumblr has me finally trying my hand at fan art again. I'm undecided how much crossposting there may be with that. Hmmm.

To try keeping up with Homestuck fandom, or at least (I hope) to better navigate its niche on tumblr, I have signed up for my own account. Expect much hopeless bumbling as I stumble about its depths like a tiny kitten tossed in the middle of an ice rink. (What do you mean my tiny kitten claws afford me no purchase here?)

Anyway: if you'd like to follow me, my tumbling nom de plum is [tumblr.com profile] tuesdaytumbles. If you'd like me to follow you and I've yet to track you down, please leave your tumblr name or address in a comment.

P.S. If you have any suggestions for tumblr must-follows, I will take those, too. ♥

And also so I know to go back and leave gushing happy comments once I have gotten over my issues contacting strangers with my main account, or somehow work up the mangrit (womangrit?) to do so regardless.

These are a mix of ships and quadrants:

Like Air by [archiveofourown.org profile] Azzandra is a delightful Karkat/Gamzee pale romance and it just fills my heart to the brim with ~feelings~. I don't have an OTP in this fandom in any of the quadrants, but if I had one for moirallegience, it would totally be this pair. Just. SO ADORABLE. Karkat pities Gamzee always and forever.

[(716): The only thought that went through my head was 'that would be an absolute disaster' so of course I said yes] by Anonymous (entry for Team Dave/Terezi in Homestuck Shipping Olympus Round One) is SO GREAT. It is many of my favorite things in one fic. Terezi + Dave + Vegas should be a thing forever. That it is Terezi/Dave red romance is so much the better. This fic comes with art, and it is amazing. I kind of want the last picture as my new desktop. So much joy.

if food be the music of love by [archiveofourown.org profile] t_ZM has Terezi being introduced to Earth cuisine by Dave in the best form of redrom courtship. There should be a thousand and one of these things, oh my gosh.

Waiting for God Tier by [archiveofourown.org profile] schellibie and [archiveofourown.org profile] t_ZM is another illustrated story, this one super great and super sad all at the same time. It is sort of Karkat/John, with the best kind of optimistic, unhappy ending I have seen.

Batterwitch by [archiveofourown.org profile] noveltyhorns has Karkat and John as the best kismesis the other could ask for. This fic is glorious, funny, and ridiculously hot for something so safe for work.

And that's it for recs at the moment. Judging by the tabs left half-read or to-read in my browser, eventually I'll be throwing tons of longer fic with redrom Kanaya/Rose.

(A sneak peek from those tabs: Trollish for the Easily Excited by [archiveofourown.org profile] cosmogyral, because if my reaction to the first one with redrom Rose/Kanaya is anything to go by, the whole series is a thing of delight.)

In other things, does anyone know how to link to AO3 using the pseudonym instead of the main account name? Besides, well, skipping the whole user name="" thing and just using the regular means of a href="".

Also, would anyone else who has had trouble getting through the (kind of boring) beginning of Homestuck like me to do a write-up of "all you need to know about early Homestuck" complete with links to what I find to be good possible entry points? I am also considering doing a promo post mostly so I can be like LOOK AT TEREZI'S AWESOME FACE and SEE HOW BAD-ASS THESE TROLLS ARE and LOOK, HS HAS MSPA'S GREAT DORKY SHENANIGANS, THEY'RE JUST HIDDEN FURTHER IN and so on. Man. I might even have to write up some ship manifestos for various quadrants.

But seriously, Homestuck has hit me right in the feelings place, ridiculous author interludes, carapaces, meandering storyline, and all. It is pretty great.

While I have been terrible at finishing fic lately, I did finally look into those media recs I asked for a while back. I gave Homestuck another try, and once I hit Act Two, it was smooth sailing. I'm currently somewhere in Act Five Part Two, and I have discovered one major problem: already I want to read all the fic and I am not even caught up yet.

So! Homestuck fen: this is your chance to sway me to your fandom. Give me recs of fan art and fic and whatever else there might be, and I might (read: will probably) double down on this fandom. Especially if those recs involve Kanaya/Rose, Karkat/John, and any sort of Terezi presence. Like. I love all the humans and their adorkable little faces, but I finally understand what everyone was talking about when they said to wait for the story's spotlight to shine on the trolls.

I mean, okay, I have a few problems with things that come up in the story here and there (it would not be MSPA if I did not), but man. I feel like this fandom and I could possibly have a beautiful relationship.

What I am saying here is: enable meeeeeeee.

A thing of nightmares, what comes of watching the first five minutes of Frankenstein. I blame [personal profile] lizfu.

Life update stuff: [personal profile] the_wanlorn and I are no longer together. She broke it off, but I'm pretty okay with it all, so no sympathies necessary on either side, I think.

Mostly, my life has stayed pretty boring, though I am going to a carnival wedding of a close family friend later today. Considering the bride was my sister's best friend at the same time her sister was my best friend and our mothers have remained close friends for ages, it is practically a family event. While I'm not looking forward to the crowds, it'll be nice to see that whole family again.

The other thing of interest was watching Frankenstein's theater broadcast with [personal profile] lizfu, as mentioned above. The stagecraft and acting were pretty great, though there were two unexpected potential triggers for s.a. Feel free to p.m. me if you need info on that.

I'm still working on that Avengers Valdemar fusion fic. It is mostly done, but I am having difficulty sticking the landing. Why are endings so hard to write?

Finally, a link for [personal profile] lizfu the rest of you may enjoy, too: Harry the Hufflepuff. It's an ffn link, and yes, there is a sequel accessible via the author's profile.

Does anyone remember how back in December I asked for prompts? I may have recently started poking at those again.

If, theoretically, I wrote something called "Avengers of Valdemar" I am hoping to post in honor of tonight's Avengers midnight opening, would anyone be willing to look it over for me? And if, say, it is not finished, is there anyone willing to chat online and bounce ideas with me as I'm writing?

Not that I am 1200 words into any such fic. Not at all.
